Family Maternity Session | Fine Art Film Photography

fine art film maternity session

I adore this family and love that we were able to document their family maternity session for sweet baby sister due this October! I have been blessed to photograph all the Laurenzi babies… maternity to birth to newborn to all the milestones in between. Fingers crossed I will be able to document sister’s arrival as well.

This is the probably 20th session with these amazing folks but it was my second session with them shooting film. I just freaking love it so much and want to try an impress on people the beauty that is #film. It truly is fine art photography and just speaks to my creative soul. If you are interested in booking a Film Session with us please reach out HERE and we will get you taken care of! If you are already on our schedule have no fear you can always request film like many others have been doing! We love it and keep our film fridge stocked!

Fine Art Newborn Session | Mila on Film

Fine Art Newborn Session

Something so very beautiful about shooting film in the KNP studio, it is just heavenly if you ask me! This fine art newborn session was a total dream, baby Mila was a little angel and mom and dad beamed with pride!

I don’t think I will ever tire of photographing these beautiful babies. I can’t believe my oldest was this tiny just 6 years ago and now she rounding out her first week of kindergarten! I just don’t know how I already have a child old enough for kindergarten. It has been a GREAT week and she is LOVING it, but my goodness this is NOT the way I saw her first year of school going down. I am just doing all I can to give it to God. Praying so hard for these babies and all the leaders making BIG decisions for them. I do not like to wish things away, but I will be the happiest girl in the world when I drop off my child and I see big bright smiles rather than masks!

I think one of the reasons I love photographing newborns so very much is for the promise of hope that they bring. I am holding real life miracles and that is something that brings me happiness and hope always!!!

My baby whispering skills were rocking for sweet Mila, all my tricks worked like magic and we created some magic if I do say so myself! I hope you enjoy this beautiful fine art newborn session as much as I have!

Classic Newborn Session

Classic Newborn Session

I want to dive right into this classic newborn session, but before I do I just have to reflect on how blessed I am. I can hardly believe that just two years ago I was the one and only member of KNP. What an amazing+complete blessing it has been to grow KNP into so much more than just a one woman show. I am honored to share this business with 4 other incredibly talented people who make me a better person. I am honored to have a small business that employees others and helps them reach goals for themselves and their families. Releasing control and taking KNP to where God was leading it has been so incredibly amazing!

Before my exit from social media (post coming about how great that has been soon) I was sharing more of the KNP associate’s work on the @katienorrid Instagram page. Now I am working to get more of their crazy talent up on the blog.

A funny question I get sometimes from my tried and true KNP lovers is… “Should I book an Associate? Will it hurt your feelings?” I always giggle and tell them this…. Why would I spend all the time, energy and money training and teaching these wonderful people if I just wanted to be the one booking all the sessions. So I am telling you this now, BOOK Brittany or Rachel or Mary or Anna! THEY ARE INCREDIBLE! I want you to book them if you want too, but of course I love the fact that I have such loyal KNP patrons 🙂 The entire KNP team has a packed calendar this fall, but we are still booking newborn sessions and booking for 2021 as well. Give us a shout HERE and Brittany will get you all the details to get on our schedule!

First up I am sharing this classic newborn session shot by Rachel Scoggin . Rachel is always cool, calm and collected and as a mom of three herself she knows how to wrangle toddlers, swaddle newborns and reassure parents they are in great hands. Here is what Rachel had to say about this sweet session… “It’s always extra special when you get to photograph a family you know. Kaci and I knew each other from high school in Lexington, Kentucky and we reconnected when we both moved to Memphis. Shooting this newborn session to welcome their 2nd baby boy was meaningful for multiple reasons and I loved seeing big brother in his new role!”

Greystone Gardens

Greystone Gardens Flowers

We are so blessed that my parents live on such a beautiful slice of this earth! It has been almost 6 years since they moved out to Greystone Stables (right when I got canned from my job and started doing photography full time… you can read about that HERE) and about 2 years ago was the start of Greystone Gardens! Myself and my sisters take full advantage of the property and our families absolutely love going to “the farm” as the grandkids call it.

Greystone is 23+ acres of beautiful fields, paddocks, ponds and gardens. It is the home to 3 miniature horses (not ponies) and a silly donkey named Macon, even though my #norridnest calls him Bacon. Many of my KNP clients have met these sweet animals and its always a great treat for the kiddos when they are done with pictures with “Miss” Katie.

One of the favorite things my girls like to do at the farm is make bouquets from the beautiful flowers in Greystone Garden. I love picking tomatoes and frying up some fried green tomatoes. Back in June I decided I needed to document this beautiful spot on the property so I grabbed my 35mm camera and some Kodak Portra 160 and I just love them. I shoot all my personal stuff with Kodak film and all my professional work with Fuji. I love the colors so much with this roll and I hope you do too! Now you guys just wait til I post about all the pumpkins that are growing this year too!

Every time we are at the farm we dream of the day when we can own land, grow our own food, raise chickens and watch our little nest run around wild and free!

The KNP Preset | Light+Bright Film Inspired Lightroom Mobile Preset

film inspired mobile preset

I have been so very thrilled with the response we have had to #theKNPpreset for Lightroom Mobile App and I am so excited for you to have this in your hands so soon! I wanted to have a post dedicated to this fun announcement since we revealed the news to our KNP VIP and had such and amazing reaction. This will help answer a lot of the questions that we have had since we leaked the news!

I want to say there is really no such thing as a ONE-CLICK fix but I worked long and hard to get as close to that as possible. So many of the examples that this post will highlight are ONE-CLICK edits with #theKNPpreset, but if you do need some extra editing there are only a few tweaks usually needed. When you purchase the light+bright film inspired Lightroom mobile preset from KNP you will have a video tutorial on how to not only get it on your phone, but it will also go through editing photos as well. It will show you just how fast you can go from drab, dull images to bright+beautiful post worthy photos.

KNP is a team of fine art film+digital photographers that use natural light for our sessions. This CORE preset is inspired by what we do here at KNP and how I have taught our team to shoot. I truly believe that getting it right in camera is KEY! This preset can’t save bad photography, it enhances good photography. Don’t let that scare you away though, because I created it to use on your iPhone images whether that be regular iPhone images or images shot in portrait mode. You can also use on images shot with your DSLR. This can be applied to images shot with flash or even images with terrible indoor “yellow” lighting BUT you will have the BEST results with images shot with natural light. This preset was MADE for natural light, so keep that in mind!

So how do you get these presets? These will be available for purchase September 2020! There is the CORE KNP preset and the B+W KNP preset that will be available, or you can purchase the KNP Preset Pack! Those that are email subscribers will have first dibs and also a discount code so you want to be a KNP VIP. Sign up HERE to be added to that list! Now lets get to some examples!
