KATIE NORRID

Uhlhorn Crew, Backyard Family Session

Goodness Gracious, this is one adorable family. Nikki and I have been trying to get together for a family shoot for quite some time.  I had a session have to reschedule so I let Nikki know I had an opening (2 day notice) and I am so thankful we got these sweet images at their beautiful new home in East Memphis.

I love big families and being invited into someone’s home is the best! The 3 older sisters were so wonderful to baby brother Stockley who was just the sweetest “little” chunk.  He is the most content baby I’ve ever met, it was so hot and he didn’t get upset a bit. Those beautiful girls… oh my they were just the sweetest and most respectful little ladies. You guys just wait til the last photo!!!

Thank you Uhlhorn Family!

Emily+Jake, A Dream Wedding in Downtown Memphis

This Wedding!!!!!

I don’t even know where to start with this one, it was a total dream. Emily and I had spoken on the phone several times prior to the Big Day, but we didn’t actually meet til’ the day of the wedding.  Every time we spoke she was so calm and really cared about my advice.  She was very prepared for the day and really trusted us to do our job and it made for an amazing, amazing day! I speak about the timeline often with my brides and how it can really make the day, Emily and Jake took this to heart and ya’ll it REALLY makes a difference. No one was rushed, it was just a beautiful, natural love story that unfolded right in front of our eyes.

We started the day at her childhood home and then made our way Downtown to Calvary Episcopal Church to really get the day started. Emily would look amazing in a brown paper bag, so when she put on her Liancarlo gown from Maggie Louise everyone just about passed out. Her sister and mom helped her with the finishing touches and it was perfect.

Gracie Leathers with Simply Delicious was a dream to work with and was key in making the day run so well. Le Fleur did an amazing job on all the florals, Simply Delicious rocked the food, and the Bluff City Soul Collective had the party going all night. I will get the full list of all the amazing vendors at the end for you all.

Emily and Jake, thank you guys so much for being you! Thank you for trusting us and making each other the priority!! I thoroughly enjoyed every second of your wedding day!

I hope you all enjoy this one!

Frazier Family, Giveaway Winners

This cute family was the Instagram Winner for the giveaway I did with The Savvy Sisters.  We use a random number generator to see who wins and the number was like 400-something so I loaded all the 600 comments and counted all of them til I found the winning number, it probably took longer to count than it did to actually shoot this adorable session, but it was totally worth it because seriously look how cute they are.

Little man Davis was giving me lots of spunk and giggles and wait til you see him with his little boots. They were such troopers in this Memphis heat. I feel like I keep talking about the heat, but y’all these 110 heat index numbers are for the birds!

It is such a joy for me to gift a session to a family. Honestly if I didn’t have bills to pay and the things that cost money I would totally do this “job” for free all the time! I always say, this is how I know I am doing what I was called to do because… if I was a billionaire I would still WANT to do this all the time!

I feel so blessed being able to do this, watch my babies sleep on the monitor and help provide for my family at the same time, all while giving families the gift of frozen time. Yep! I am one lucky lady!

Y’all enjoy this one!

Shelby+Kevin, A Downtown Memphis Engagement

Shelby and Kevin are getting married this November and it is going to be a beautiful outdoor wedding.  All my Memphis people know just how hot it is right now, so when they opted for a sunrise session I was super pumped! You get that awesome early morning light and little bit cooler temps.

I have known Kevin his whole life because he is my cousin, so when his beautiful fiancé asked me about shooting their wedding I was so honored and excited. We had such a good time in downtown Memphis walking by the river and hoping around South Main. These two just jive together and it made my job super easy.

These two just got their entire engagement session of 194 images! I have to admit I shoot A LOT and deliver A LOT of images to my clients, its just the way I shoot and I always just LOVE so many.  Im not going to share all 194 with you today but I did pick out a few of my faves to let y’all have a peek into the session.

Its a super busy next couple of months, so hold me to this blogging thing okay?

Kevin and Shelby, I can’t wait for November!

Leisa+Leon, A Beautiful & Heartwarming Barn Wedding

I am honored to get to share this special wedding with you all.  I was contacted my Leisa’s daughter Brooxie back in December of last year about shooting her Mom’s wedding in January. Brooxie and I went to school together at the University of Memphis and we were both in the Greek community, and I remember when Brooxie went thru recruitment! She was one of the girls everyone wanted in their chapter.

Brooxie was diagnosed with breast cancer in September of 2015.  I remember hearing the news and just being in complete shock because she was too young for this diagnosis. I kept up with her treatments and progress through a Facebook page her wonderful sister created. My fellow photographer Kelly Ginn did a fundraiser for Brooxie with mini sessions and I signed up immediately, and not much longer after that Brooxie would start a trial treatment in Nashville.  I remember reading one of the later updates from Christy and crying at my computer screen. Even though I wasn’t close with Brooxie she touched so many lives. It was just so hard for me to understand why this was happening to her and her sweet family.

Brooxie was given a very grim diagnosis and wanted more than anything to see her Mom marry the man of her dreams. The wedding was set and ready for the end of January and Brooxie took a turn for the worst. I remember talking with Leisa on the phone for quite some time and just praying she would have the strength for the wedding. I was completely heartbroken for everyone when that did not get to happen. Brooxie was soon completely healed and walking the streets of gold with our Heavenly Father. I am so thankful she is no longer in pain and is completely healed.

Leisa and I had discussed possible dates to honor Brooxie’s wishes and have the wedding day she wanted for her mom and Leon. June 3, 2017 it was. It was a beautiful day filled with so much love and memorials to Brooxie. Her dress was made into her mom’s garter, Leon’s handkerchief, and the flower-dog’s dress. Brooxie’s best friend Morgan played the violin for the ceremony, and Brooxie’s cups were everywhere. One of the most moving moments was right before the ceremony.  We had clear skies the whole time during portraits but 15 minutes before the ceremony the bottom dropped out! Lots and Lots of rain (wait til you see the picture of the rain) and Leisa was up at the main house and would have to get down to the barn, but then all the sudden as the ceremony began the rain just stopped. Not even a sprinkle and the sun was out again. I just had chills and really felt it was Brooxie saying hello!

You won’t meet better people than Leisa and Leon. They are so in love and I am so unbelievable honored to have been invited to witness God’s work. Thank you so much Leisa, Leon, Christy and Brooxie.
